My name is Ryan Doerrer and I am husband, and father of three young children, a 4th grade, 2nd grade and kindergarten student. I moved to Channahon 15 years ago and the next year I married my high school sweetheart, Allison. I have been a resident of Will County for over 38 years. I’m a Licensed Structural Engineer with 20 years of experience. As an engineer, I design roadway bridges, railroad bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, along with other various infrastructure. Most of my work is completed for the Illinois Department of Transportation and The Illinois Tollway.
I am seeking election for the Channahon School District 17 School Board because I believe in what they stand for. Our schools are a place of learning for our youth, and quite frankly I think they are excelling at this task. Our teachers and administrators are working tirelessly to provide a high-quality education, along with offering options and solutions to meet the various needs of all students. I am thoroughly grateful to all parties involved ensuring our kids are put first when making decisions about their education. As of now, our School Board lacks the presence of members who have kids actively enrolled in the district. I want to help bridge the gap of those numbers. With my children being currently enrolled, I have a vested interest in how the school performs now and for many years to come. I support our Superintendent, Dr. Nicholas Henkle, backed by his impressive track record of accomplishments for our district. I am proud our schools stayed open during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am a parent who wants to have a more involved role in my children’s education. I want to be a voice for not only my own children, but for all the students in Channahon School District 17. These years are imperative for developing a strong foundation for our youth, so they are prepared for their high school and college years, and then become successful adults. I want our kids to be set up for success and I believe I can help, with being an advocate for students, parents, teachers, and administrators of Channahon School District 17. I want to ensure our schools continue on the path of success with a supportive school board behind them.
